We had a truly magical trip with Ocean Spell to the Maldives in October. Sylvia looked after every detail and was there to enjoy the trip with us -which was fantastic. She is clearly very passionate about surf travel in the Maldives and dedicated to creating memorable trips for likeminded surf travellers. We were lucky enough to have the very best surf guiding team, including highly skilled surf coaching and surf photography and more importantly just genuinely amazing people. We formed a special bond on our boat with the team and the other surf travellers, so much so I found it hard to say goodbye at the end! The surf was awesome, we were always taken to the best spots at the best times and given loads of time in the water. We especially liked the quieter spots further south. The boat was a lovely place to hang out and food was delicious. The crew running the boat and the dhoni were brilliant as well. It was so special in every way. A memorable and magical holiday. I took my first surf trip with The Ocean Spell in October, to the Maldives. My first impressions of my correspondence with owner Silvia San Laureano was one of attention to detail. While the price point for this trip was higher than trips I have taken in the past, it was well worth the investment. Silvia surrounds herself with top surf coaches and in water support staff. We had two exceptional surf coaches, Wispy and Josie, and three local support staff who took video and in water photos. Such an exceptional group of people. Silvia’s primary focus is meeting the needs of her clients. Our first night aboard the surf liveaboard found us in an unusual situation, one of the engines was not working. While the boat staff felt confident we could continue on, Silvia spent the night securing a new boat. This was no small task. Silvia was adamant that safety was the primary focus. I have some key food allergies and Silvia made sure there was plenty of food for me to eat. The accommodations were clean and comfortable. The boat staff was above and beyond nice and helpful. One of the things I most liked about this trip was the people who were on it. Silvia interviews potential clients to make sure the fit is just right for an adventure like this. And it was perfect. While the weather was not traditional Maldives spectacular, every effort was made to make sure the on the water experience was the best it could be in that situation. My best friend and i set out on this trip with Ocean Spell to surf empty waves and improve our surf skills & confidence, while we are still young.  Sylvia & team were wonderful and we learned a lot each night by watching our video footage with surf coaches Wispy & Josie.  We had some bad weather but luckily were still able to surf. Sylvia and her team have built something really special with The Ocean Spell. I was lucky enough to join one of their 10-day longboarding surf trips, and it was an unforgettable experience. I knew the surfing would be world-class, but what really stood out was the care they put into every detail — from the accommodations and transport to, most importantly, the amazing people they brought together. Our group of longboarders were all very rad and enjoyed surfing, hanging out, and eating together throughout the entirety of the trip. The coaches, photographers, and local guides were not only great at what they do but also incredibly kind, supportive, and fun to be around. This was *so* important since we were all living together on a (well-equipped) yacht for the whole trip, and the all-round good vibes made every day with the group really enjoyable. We booked a week-long boat surf retreat through The Ocean Spell, plus a few days on land beforehand to get acclimated.  I expected to have an amazing trip because…it’s the Maldives! But this trip exceeded all of my expectations, absolutely magical. With Silvia’s guidance, we were treated to top-notch accommodations, empty breaks, pristine waves, and delicious food to fuel our bodies. She pays incredible attention to detail, anticipates guest needs, and runs her organization with such integrity. Everyone she works with was truly extraordinary: the resort folks, the boat crew, surf guides. I really can’t recommend The Ocean Spell enough. I came home with my mind blown and my cup full. What an experience. Silvia organized the surf trip of a lifetime for us in the Maldives, 11 days, part land, part boat — in both cases, surfing empty point breaks. I’m still shocked by how awesome it was. Moreover, Silvia is just incredibly organized, thoughtful, knowledgeable, honest (e.g., she was very careful not to over promise on anything, given you’re always at the mercy of Mother Nature on something like this) and just all around nice. First of all I want to thank Silvia for the attention she gave me at all times, before, during and after the trip. The group was exceptional, my surfing level was one of the weakest in the group and I felt cared for and supported at all times by Laura and Ainara, as well as by all the girls.
